Metal pegboards are proven garage storage solutions but for first timers, the numerous uses they can be put to can actually be a bit intimidating. If you own the
Holey Rail™ you have a tough, flexible system for getting organized, but where should you begin? What exactly can you do?
We can’t list every single thing a strong steel pegboard is capable of and we wouldn’t want to – people always find new uses for metal pegboards. One of the pleasures of working in garage storage is that you help people find their own creative solutions. Nevertheless, we want to help you get started with five basic ways you can use steel pegboards,
peg hooks and
peg strappers to get organized.
Bicycle Storage
Adult and children’s bikes are tremendous space hogs. If you leave them on the floor you need to account for the width of the pedals and handlebars as well as the extra space it takes to lean the bike on a stable point. The easiest solution is to hand your bike upright, usually by the front wheel. A good metal pegboard system is strong enough to support an adult’s bike on a broad peg hook.
Box Storage
The
Holey Rail™ is particularly suited to mounting storage boxes, as the rail form can be mounted high or low without looking ugly or covering up more than it needs to. As long as a box has stable points for your hooks and the hooks are affixed with peg strappers, you can hand storage boxes off the ground at a comfortable level for later retrieval.
Garden Tool Storage
Garden tool storage is one of the most popular applications of our products. Garden tools come in a huge variety of lengths and weights, so finding a way to store them together can be a formidable task. Since the
Holey Rail™ can support anything from a spade to a gas weed trimmer, it’s an ideal system for all of your garden tools.
Sports Equipment Storage
If you’ve ever played hockey or baseball, or have family who do, you know how much space sports equipment can take up, and how hard it is to find a space efficient way to deal with it. You need to organize bats, balls, sticks, pucks, shin guards, helmets and more. A metal pegboard gives you an easy solution: Hang the bag! This keeps it out of the way and ensures that you (or your spouse, son or daughter) can just grab the bag off its hooks when it’s time to play.
Workshop Storage
Your folding workbench is supposed to hang. Are you hanging it in a space efficient fashion, or just leaning it against a wall or worse, yet, letting it swing off a couple of nails you’ve driven into your garage wall studs? Use a metal pegboard to hang it properly, and keep it by the rest of your tools. You can even use hooks to hang boxes of screws so that everything is in easy reach but never in your way.
As you can see, you can do a lot more with a tough metal pegboard system than just hang your hammers, brooms and extension cords. To get the best out of your pegboards you need high quality, strong systems like
Holey Rail™. That way, you don’t have to confine yourself to light objects and you can get the most out of every inch of garage space.
